Msonga, Omary2026-04-012026-04-012024-11https://repository.tia.ac.tz/handle/123456789/329ABSTRACT This study investigated the effects of training on employee performance at the Tanzania Veterinary Laboratory Agency (TVLA) through a cross-sectional design guided by a mixed research approach, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The specific objectives included examining the means of training, determining factors influencing employee performance, and exploring the relationship between training and performance. Targeting a population of 192 employees, the study employed purposive sampling to select respondents who had received training between 2020 and 2023 were the sample size of the study was 129 respondents. Data collection involved both primary sources, including surveys and interviews, and secondary sources, such as document reviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using IBM SPSS version 25 for descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis to identify patterns and insights. The majority of respondents expressed positive views on different aspect which were impact of training on their performance at TVLA. For instance, 90(70%) agreed or strongly agreed that training has contributed to their job performance. The integration of social learning theory underscored the importance of collaborative environments in skill acquisition. The responses indicate a generally positive perception of the factors influencing the relationship between training and employee performance at TVLA. For relevance to job role, a significant majority (58% agreeing or strongly agreeing) emphasized that training content is applicable to their responsibilities. In conclusion, the effectiveness of diverse training methods, particularly on-the-job training and workshops, in enhancing employee performance. By continuously investing in employee development and encouraging knowledge sharing, TVLA can improve overall productivity and employee engagement.
